


Government
The municipality of Los Alamos County is a single government that presides over the county and its two communities, Los Alamos and White Rock. There is no separate city or town government for either of the two communities. Los Alamos is governed by an elected County Council that serves with nominal compensation. There is no mayor. The chief executive of the paid staff of the county is the County Manager.
Property tax rates in Los Alamos are low. New Mexicos property tax is perennially ranked among the three lowest states in the nation. The Gross Receipts Tax rate in Los Alamos is 6.5625%.
