Transportation

 

Los Alamos is a 45 minute drive from the regional airport at Santa Fe and less than a two hour drive to the international airport at Albuquerque. Scheduled service to Denver is available from Santa Fe.  The completion of the Santa Fe bypass (locally referred to as the "Relief Route") provides four lane highway connection the entire distance from Albuquerque to Los Alamos.

 

Los Alamos has an active general aviation airport with air freight service.  The airport services private and corporate jet traffic. Private charter service is available.

 

A regional transit authority serving Los Alamos, Santa Fe, and Rio Arriba counties is in the formation stage. Information about the status of this initiative can be obtained from the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce.

 

LA Bus provides public transit bus routes and on-demand transportation service in the Los Alamos community. Northern New Mexico Park and Ride provides public transit bus routes between Santa Fe, Espanola, and Los Alamos. SECA Vanpools provide another commuter option in the region.
