Los Alamos has a similar range of childcare options as would be found in most small communities. The Los Alamos Strengths Network Family Resource Center (505-662-4515) is a not-for-profit organization that provides a variety of information and resources to families, including information about childcare options in the community. Many daycare and preschool providers are listed on the Los Alamos National Laboratory's "Working Families" dependent care website. In addition to pre-schools and daycare facilities, there are many persons who provide daycare in their homes and others who will come to your home. New Mexico state guidelines for providers and other referral information are maintained on a State website called "New Mexico Kids". There are afterschool programs for younger, school-age children provided by the YMCA.
